Color Play
Hello. I am Tobie Vickers-Lee. Welcome to my website.
I am an artist & a teacher. I am a person that has a continual need to be creative in different ways. Whether it be designing environments, or manipulating materials on a two dimensional surface. I am always contemplating visually.
Inspiration:
I am an observer of color and how we are enriched by colors and color combinations throughout our lives. We all are immersed in visual imagery everyday, in some way or another, digitally or in-person. These experiences enrich our daily experiences in many ways. …….IF only, time allowed us to pay more attention. What would we see? What would we experience?
Process:
I enjoy mixing paint, and manipulating materials. I am a believer that the basics of lines, colors, shapes and how these elements present themselves impact our experiences.
I am drawn to nature and the fluidity of natural elements. My work is often a response to actions in a day to day world. However, my work expresses the opposite of a reality for which we are intertwined in the mundane. The search for an escape or repreive that bring a centered-ness.
The question becomes, if we could stop more often, notice, and look around, see the details; we might find that there is a bit more enjoyment in the simple moments of experience.
My work is an attempt to bring an experience of questioning, or absorbing something new through a new lense The perspective of color and how colors interacts with one another. Color Play.
